SEASONS
“When is the best time to come fishing?” The answer to this depends on what you are looking to get out of your fishing trip. Each season offers different species of fish, rivers to fish, beauty, colours and weather.
Steelhead, Chinook (King) Salmon, Trout
A spring trip is a unique experience and brings many of our anglers back year after year. Our first fishing trips start in late March for spring Steelhead. At this time we guide on a variety of rivers giving our guests a good overview of the region. From late April to early May anglers can catch Chinook Salmon as well as Steelhead so our anglers experience some exciting fishing. Anglers can also enjoy some great trout fishing.
Steelhead, Chinook (King), Sockeye, Pink, Chum, Coho Salmon, Trout
The main run for Chinook is mid-June to mid-August. By mid-July anglers are catching Chum, Pink, Sockeye and Chinook salmon, and the first summer run Steelhead and Coho begin to arrive. August gives anglers an opportunity to catch all five species of salmon as well as Steelhead – the “Grand Slam”. This is a great time for fly fishing given the variety of fish and favorable weather and water conditions.
Steelhead, Coho, Trout
As September arrives the landscape changes with the autumn colours and the large Northern Coho arrive in the rivers. This is the time of season we begin to fish the Skeena tributaries and a number of other excellent rivers. As well as great Coho fishing, there are numerous opportunities for Steelhead on small wilderness rivers. The more adventurous anglers have the chance to spend days hiking on small wilderness rivers with rods in hand to fish pools for Steelhead. Anglers enjoy catching these lively fish from small pristine wilderness rivers running through breathtaking scenery. The variety of rivers to fish makes autumn an exciting time for Wild Rivers Lodge’s guests.
